You have opened a “can of worms”. Dvds are usually given the GMD VI, but not always some have EL. This issue has been raised before. The SCIS cataloguers will designate the dvd as VI if it is a videorecording. They will give it EL if it is more than just a video recording. The V in dvd used to stand for “video”, now it stands for “versatile”, i.e. it can be much more than just a video, it can be software too.
The problem that occurs is when you want to produce a report by GMD as not all the videos will have VI as their GMD & only a small number of your resources with EL as their GMD will be videos.
If you want them to all be considered as videos, then just give them all the same special location, such as VID = videos.
