Removing resources from resource boxes

Posted by bhs on February 27, 2010

Just a quick question. We have a number of author study resource boxes that have not been utilised for over 5 years and i would like to break up the resource boxes and place individual items back onto the shelves (especially as many are listed on the Premier’s Reading Challenge).
Can anyone give me some pointers in how to do this?

First you must log in at a higher operator level than the standard one for circulation (this operator lis usually set with a security of 1D to ensure that student monitors do not have access to personal details and other areas of OASIS). As the resources are already on OASIS all you have to do is go to B2 E5 (Resource Boxes), call up the Resource box i.e. scan in the barcode of the Resource Box. A list of all the Box’s content will appear on the screen. Move the cursor so that it is next to the resource/s that you want to remove from the box, select D = Delete then C = Confirm.

If you have given those resources a special location because they are part of a Resource Box, then you now have to change their locations on OASIS as well. Possibly you will have to change their Loan Category as well if the loan category that they had when part of a Resource Box is different to their new location. That can be done quite quickly (after you’ve changed their locations), in B2 L1. Select P = Permanent and OASIS will ensure that all resources in that location will have the same loan category.
