Borrower list plus cost

Design Report: Teacher resource & cost

Wondering if anyone out there has designed a report for teachers who have overdue resources which includes cost.

I’ve designed such a report, if you have already downloaded my reports it will be in User Reports (i.e. the ones that appear when you first go in to F2) called LIBRARY105 (not to be confused with the Sample  Report with the same title). If you do not have it then I’ve attached the files for you.

You need to save all the attachments to your computer and then upload the report to your OASIS User Reports. Instructions to transfer reports can be found at https://detwww.det.nsw.edu.au/it/schoolsystems/projects/thin_client/data/thin_client_imp/documentation/howtos/word/how_to_transfer_reports.pdf
(Of course you would be transferring “from” Disk & “to” User Reports.)

Weekly Housekeeping

I am just doing a weekly housekeeping and a new message came up saying it only needs to be done in 2 circumstances:
1. prior to running a statistical report
2. when loans and returns are being processed during stocktake

but how about when the status of an item needs to be changed (B1/D1)?  I have just “returned” a lost book and want to change the status to missing and add a comment (student has paid).  I thought that was a time when weekly housekeeping was needed – between the “return” and the status change.

There’s a new message when you go in to do Weekly Housekeeping, informing you that it only needs to be done when producing statistical reports or when carrying out loans & returns during stocktake.

New Menu bits

I just received a call from ICT helpdesk in reply to my email sent this morning about the Weekly Housekeeping changes.

Apparently this message we are receiving reflects changes that were announced in the OASIS Release Notes 6.9 Sept 2010 (current release notes are 6.9.2 and I can’t find the place where the older messages are stored – anyone got them??)

Weekly housekeeping is now done along with the overnight K1 backup.

I asked about times when we need a Weekly Housekeeping other than the 2 situations mentioned in that new message and explained that the wording does not cover things like stocktake initialisation, changes to general resources and asked that the wording be made clearer.

https://detwww.det.nsw.edu.au/it/schoolsystems/projects/thin_client/data/thin_client_imp/release_notes/release_6_9.pdf

It states:
LIBRARY
B4-N4 Weekly Housekeeping
This process will now be run automatically along with the nightly K1 Backup.

There is no longer any requirement to run B4 N4.

The only exception would be if the school was about to run a statistical report or loan history report and needed to include the transactions for the current day. Even in this circumstance if the report could be run prior to any transactions being processed for the day, there would be no need to run an additional B4 N4 Weekly Housekeeping.

Doesn’t cover all this circumstances where we need to do a Weekly Housekeeping, does it?

Barcode font for disposing

I use this method when disposing of large quantities of books. you need to download the 3 of 9 barcode font (free from the net) and put it into word – ask a techie to help if you need to! Then type in whatever you want with an asterisk at the beginning and end. I type *141010* (today’s date) and *OBSOLETE* in both barcode and normal font and print if off. I save myself a lot of typing (a good thing considering my typing skills!). You can’t have spaces, but you can overcome this by using full stops or dashes, and it can’t be too long or your scanner won’t cope
